Helicopter Rigging Drogue Chute

Description

A modified parachute to induce drag and maintain directional stability to an underslung load of a helicopter.

How it’s Made

We take standard round parachute canopies and modify the steering vents to maintain a symmetrical flight attitude. Our cruciform canopies are designed for lighter loads. Our material selection includes lightweight reinforced zero porosity nylon fabric, heavy-duty webbing and rated rigging hardware.

Uses

The use of a parachute to induce drag and add stability to control unwanted rotations to underslung loads will ensure the equipment or prop that is being flown, remains straight and orientated correctly, this is especially important for promotional or event-related flight operations.

More Info

Every canopy has been designed and selected for the weight and surface area of the load that is being flown. This wind loading relates to the safe workload of the fittings, materials and construction method used. We provide proof load testing that complies with Australian Standards for structural rigging equipment.

Specialisations & Options

Color

Tactical colours are selected where the canopy doesn't need the attention and high visibility colours and printing options are selected where the canopy needs to stand out.

Options

Black, Orange, Graphics and Printing.

Size

Size is related to weight and speed factors of the object being flown. Shape of the canopy is also important, round, square, conical or cruciform.

Options

Please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements.

Wind Loading

Specific wind loadings are complex calculations of relative air and ground speed, weight and balance factors that provide us ultimately with a surface area of canopy. This surface area can then be used to produce a symmetric round, square or cylindrical ram air, or cruciform canopy.

Options

Symmetric round for high load capacity. Cruciform for medium load conditions.
